by Joshua Nase on June 5, 2015

Just in case you have not heard…

Vermont Residential Building Energy Standard

The newest version of the Vermont Residential Building Energy Standard (VRBES) has been released and is effective as of March 1, 2015. The regulations can be found online at the VT Public Service Department: http://publicservice.vermont.gov/topics/energy_efficiency/code_update#Res_Codebook

The Energy Code Assistance Center can answer questions at 1-855-887-0673

Shoreland Protection Act

Also a reminder that the Shoreland Protection Act was passed last year and has been effective as of July 1, 2014. If you have a project within 250′ of Lake Champlain or any other body of water greater than 10 Acres in size, these regulations may pertain to you. Any new development, redevelopment or clearing of a property may require a permit or registration. For more information visit the VT Watershed Management Division at:  http://www.watershedmanagement.vt.gov/permits/htm/pm_shoreland.htm

EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule for Lead Safety

Finally a reminder that the state of VT has adopted the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule for Lead Safety. It has been effective since April 22, 2010. If your project involves a pre-1978 home or child-occupied facilities, you likely need a company that is certified and uses lead-safe work practices. CLB is certified and available to assist in your project needs. For more information on the regulation visit:

Feel free to contact us for information on how any of the above codes may apply to your project.
